This position is responsible for management and engagement of AMIA individual membership functions and drives membership recruitment, retention, and revenue for the individual membership program. This position involves daily interaction with individual members and non-members, providing extraordinary customer service and proactive engagement opportunities. The position oversees the AMIA Working Group program and community platform – ensuring a positive member experience and advancement of the AMIA mission and vision.
Based on the duties described below, this is a full-time, exempt, fully remote position. This position reports to the Vice President, Membership Engagement.
Nature and Scope
The Manager, Member Engagement plays a key role in supporting the AMIA strategic plan and advancing the medical informatics field. This role is essential to member satisfaction, membership growth, and increased utilization of benefits. This role collaborates closely with IT and Marketing to drive sustainable engagement strategies that support long-term success and measurable progress toward strategic goals. The Manager, Member Engagement must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and innovative with demonstrated success in volunteer management and membership growth.
Principle Accountabilities
Oversee all individual membership types and actively seek a positive member experience for all, including program management, troubleshooting, and engagement.
Manages activities that promote individual membership renewal and retention in collaboration with all related business owners/departments having individual membership responsibilities, tracks ongoing progress, and makes suggestions for improvements.
Proactively seeks opportunities for membership growth and marketing to new segments and collaborate with internal staff to move membership initiatives forward.
Leads the AMIA Working Group Program, enhancing opportunities for member engagement, upholds governance policies, tracks program growth, and grows program participation.
Oversee the AMIA member community platform, including staff and member engagement, user growth, active participation, community onboarding/enhancements, and maintenance of the platform.
Partners with the Vice President, Member Engagement to execute strategic initiatives aligned with the strategic plan, driving organizational impact and advancement of the field.
Provides superior customer service to members and non-members through phone, email, and the community platform.
Proactively provides resources and tools that promote the engagement of all individual members, makes ongoing improvements to the program, and enhances benefit offerings.
Analyzes member satisfaction data, tracks trends, and implements positive changes reflective of the data.
Collaborates across AMIA department staff (IT, Marketing and Finance) and other service departments to develop required business intelligence reports, dashboards necessary to cleanse and mine data to drive growth of individual memberships and revenue.
Develops and monitors KPIs for individual membership programs including the creation and maintenance of advanced forecasting models to accurately project revenue and budget forecasts.
Support member engagement at AMIA Annual Symposium and other events.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department.
Qualifications
An understanding of non-profit member focused organizations and high degree of awareness of the value, purpose, culture and mission of not-for-profit organizations with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a membership association.
Demonstrated experience using a CRM or AMS platform, preferably Salesforce, including but not limited to developing and analyzing reports related to member activity.
Demonstrated experience using or managing a community engagement platform.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, in a customer focused, team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, set priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a complex, fast moving environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and exemplary telephone manners.
Education – Bachelor’s degree preferred
Technical Skills – Exception MS office skills including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and the use of other technologies
Travel Requirements
Must be able to travel to the annual symposium, possible other occasional travel.
