Job Summary:  This position will work with the association’s staff and committees to identify, develop, plan, and implement industry events. The individual will manage meeting functions, the sales and onsite support of events, and related databases.

Specific Tasks:

• Manage all meeting planning responsibilities for NWRA events, to include both national and regional events
• Waste Expo:
• Responsible for all events including the President’s Reception, board meetings, chapter leadership meeting, Board of Trustees Dinner, Awards Breakfast, exhibit booth events
• Responsible for booth design and set-up
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, outreach, and execution of the educational programs for NWRA conferences (Industry Conference & Executive Leadership Round Table) and other regional meetings/events.
• Work with regional staff to plan all state chapter meetings, golf events, and regional conferences
• Prepare and manage event and meeting budgets; preparation of a yearly financial projection of meeting revenues and sponsorships.
• Manage the NWRA events calendar with an awareness of competing events from outside of NWRA to avoid conflicts
• Manage the planning process for board meetings and assist with committee meetings
• Work with Communications to promote and market events and solicit sponsorships
• Manage event email marketing and meeting notices.
• Develop and update events in database and event planning software.
• Negotiate all venue contracts to obtain the best rates at the best possible venues/hotels for the association and members.
• Develop room sets, audio visuals, and marketing collateral

Essential Qualifications:

• Up-to-date events management skills with experience developing and implementing the planning and execution of association meetings and events
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Adept at contract negotiations with facilities, hotels, and vendors
• High attention to detail, adherence to deadlines/timelines
• Team player with experience in collaborating with various stakeholders
• Ability to reconcile meetings accounts and facilitate timely and accurate payment of vendors
• 5 days a week in-office work in Arlington, VA with flexible work from home in August & December.
• Must be local to the DMV
