Salary is commensurate with the requirements of the position with a range of $125,000 to $140,000. Generous benefits include a bonus plan of up to ten (10) percent of base salary based on fundraising performance, contribution to qualified health plan and PTO.

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead a staff of twenty-five (25) including five (5) direct reports. You will be responsible for running an organization with four (4) business verticals which include Donoghue’s Open Door, a free community dining experience open to everyone and Grassroots Grocery, where families struggling financially may shop weekly.

What will you do as FeedNC’s next Chief Executive Officer?
Strategic Planning and Non-Profit Leadership
Lead an inclusive, forward thinking strategic planning process with business acumen and insight from your proven record as a non-profit leader.
Use internal metrics and community data to assess impact, identify gaps, and guide programmatic and operational direction.
Solve complex issues such as food insecurity, workforce development, and social service access—particularly in underserved areas.
Staff Development and Management
Prioritize professional development, mentorship, and team building.
Ensure staff have clear job descriptions, performance expectations, and access to supportive supervision and feedback.
Create a culture of open communication
Create and define appropriate organizational structure
Fundraising
Oversee successful execution of major fundraising events
Strategically expand funding sources beyond individual giving, including grants, recurring donations, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind support
Work directly with the Chief Development Officer to foster and develop existing and new donor relations.
Financial Management
Lead the organization’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial processes across multiple business units.
Manage relationships with funders across various revenue streams—including individual donations, fundraising events, and grants
Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities for investment
Board of Directors Relations
Foster a healthy partnership with the Board by respecting governance vs. management roles, while inviting strategic input on key initiatives.
Regularly brief the Board on organizational progress, challenges, and opportunities—grounded in data, financial performance, and impact metrics.
Key lived experiences, attributes, and skillsets sought in the Chief Executive Officer
Enthusiastic about FeedNC’s mission, vision, and values.
At least seven (7) years of comparable executive level nonprofit management experience.
Experience casting a vision, building a strategy, and direct leadership executing a plan that resulted in growth.
Decision-maker who understands how to build consensus across a variety of stakeholders.
Inspiring communicators who can motivate staff, the Board, donors, partners, and volunteers.
History of demonstrating the sound judgment, administrative skill, and financial acumen necessary to oversee day-to-day operations and manage a budget of at least $5M.
Meticulous, logical, and methodological approach to problem-solving.
