The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is looking for a detail-oriented and data-savvy Certification Analyst to join our Certification team. In this role, you’ll help ensure our professional examinations are reliable, fair, and valid - supporting thousands of candidates who trust CAS to set the gold standard for actuarial certification.
This is a unique opportunity to combine psychometrics, data analysis, and operational excellence while working with volunteers, task forces, and global partners in advancing CAS’s mission.
What You’ll Do
As a Certification Analyst, you will:
Support the exam scoring and validation process, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Conduct data analysis and reporting - from item statistics and exam metrics to dashboards that inform decision-making.
Lead and coordinate grader volunteer teams, workshops, and grading summits.
Partner with vendors to ensure exam security and integrity.
Contribute to exam development by analyzing performance, maintaining quality controls, and supporting standard-setting projects.
Maintain robust documentation, policies, and processes that keep certification running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree in evaluation & testing, psychometrics, statistics, education, or related field preferred.
3+ years of experience in statistical/data analysis (experience with exam development is a plus).
Familiarity with ISO 17024 standards for certification programs preferred.
Strong project management, vendor/volunteer coordination, and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills for working with staff, volunteers, and candidates.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with item banking software (ExamDeveloper a plus) and database/data analysis tools (Cobalt a plus).
