The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) , a professional association of general dentist dedicated to providing quality dental care and oral health to the public, is seeking a Human Resources Director to manage the daily activities of the human resources department and building operations. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this includes recruitment, benefit and compensation programs, payroll administration, and employee development. Recommends programs to enhance the AGD benefit packages and increase employee engagement. The Director will also provide strategic leadership in human resources initiatives aligned with the overall goals of the organization. Assists with organizational activities and special projects as directed.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience; Eight years of human resources generalist experience, 5+ years managing an HR department. Association experience preferred. Experience overseeing payroll function. HR Certification preferred; Aable to communicate authoritatively, effectively and tactfully with AGD applicants and staff and present a positive image of AGD through these communications. Possess firm understanding of EEO, IRS and ERISA requirements and other government regulations, as well as human resources, benefits and payroll. Strong recruitment experience, including knowledge of social media sites. Possess strong math skills and exceptional PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Be able and willing to learn new software and programs as required. Be flexible, adaptable, able to work on a wide variety of tasks independently and in a team structure, understand meaning of confidentiality, solve problems creatively and effectively, while being fair and compassionate and make sound judgments. Possess the ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, work independently, develop budgets, monitor and control expenditures, and demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail. Possess excellent record keeping skills, good organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, and excellent oral and written communications skills with good spelling, proofreading and grammatical skills. Be able to work additional hours as needed.
