We're seeking a visionary Vice President of Marketing and Communications to lead strategic marketing, digital content, and public relations efforts at the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). In this key leadership role, you'll elevate our brand, drive member and business engagement, and lead a talented team in delivering impactful marketing and communications that support our programs, events, research, and philanthropic initiatives. What do we offer?
Starting range between $120,000-$130,000 based on experience and internal pay equity practices
Hybrid work schedule (in office 2 days, remote 3 days) or fully remote if located outside the Dallas, TX area

What will you be doing?
As the Vice President of Marketing and Communications (MarCom), you'll be the strategic force behind AARC's brand, voice, and visibility. Reporting to the CEO, this role leads the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies that support organizational goals, advance thought leadership, and amplify the impact of our programs, events, membership, and ARCF, the research and philanthropic arm of AARC. You will shape and drive a marketing vision that engages key stakeholders, supports revenue generation, and positions AARC as a trusted leader in the healthcare space.
You'll oversee a creative and high-performing team responsible for content marketing, communications, and public relations across digital and traditional platforms. From strategic planning to campaign execution, you will guide the team in delivering bold, innovative, and data-driven marketing efforts that deepen engagement, elevate the brand, and deliver measurable results. You will also foster collaboration across departments to ensure cohesive messaging and strategic alignment.
In this role, you'll lead efforts to tell compelling stories, grow AARC's influence, and build meaningful connections across media, member communities, and industry stakeholders. You'll manage strategic partnerships, oversee SEO and digital optimization efforts, and ensure our PR activities raise the visibility of AARC's work. Your leadership will also shape and refine communications strategies that inform, inspire, and engage audiences across multiple channels.
What education, experience and credentials are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in business, communications marketing or related field required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing and communications in a healthcare and/or association setting, with at least 5 years serving in a senior-level people management role.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; able to inspire, motivate, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Highly organized and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
Self-motivated and goal-driven with the ability to work independently and within a team.
Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail; AP style knowledge preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).
Familiarity with Wordpress, HTML, SEO best practices, metadata, and keyword optimization.
Experience with digital tools such as Google Analytics, digital advertising platforms, and email marketing software (e.g., Informz or similar).
Solid background in project management, operational planning, and departmental budgeting.
