Summary
Washington, DC based association management firm seeks association professional to serve as Director of Operations for its clients. Position available immediately. The Director of Operations plays a pivotal role in driving the success of the organization’s events, internal operations, project management and strategy oversight. This multifaceted leadership position requires a dynamic professional with exceptional organizational, communication, and management skills to oversee high-profile events, streamline internal processes, and lead initiatives that enhance member engagement and brand visibility.

Responsibilities
Program Development & Event Development
Oversight of major events including the Annual Gala and Annual Meeting (working with events, production, sponsorships, communications and marketing teams).
Develop event agendas, minutes, scripts, and run-of-show in collaboration with producers and planning committees.
Manage speaker, emcee, and awardee logistics including asset collection, planning meetings, and rehearsals.
Coordinate the development of physical and digital event materials.
Serve as liaison between planning committees and internal teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Organizational Operations
Facilitate weekly staff meetings, including agenda creation and note distribution.
Oversee documentation of internal protocols and lead annual records retention activities.
Act as the primary administrator for Higher Logic platforms (website, AMS, communications, and community).
Supervise Communications and provide cross-functional support to ensure project continuity.
Lead the launch of new chapters and provide onboarding and training to staff.
Backfill for Executive Director or Communications Team in their absence.
Monitor project alignment with organizational goals and reduce operational redundancies.
Develop proposals for time allocation and organizational structure to support strategic growth.
Project Manage across departments including events, membership, chapters, partnerships, and sponsorships.
Manage relationships with external PR and social media partners to amplify organizational visibility.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage a high-performing communications and marketing team.
Define team roles, onboard new hires, and foster collaboration with creative and event teams.
Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to staff.
Analytics & Optimization
Track and analyze communication performance metrics to inform strategy.
Present engagement insights to leadership and refine outreach based on data.
Manage and optimize email distribution lists for targeted communications.
Oversight of Communications
Work with Marketing team to support communications efforts.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
A minimum of five-seven years’ experience in association/non-profit management; including working with board of directors, committees and workgroups; managing multiple stakeholders
Experience leading committees/work groups and the ability to make decisions on behalf of a client
Experience managing and implementing all aspects of a broad-spectrum project
Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple projects
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and resourceful under pressure
Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); including ability to present and speak in public
Outstanding customer service and ability to work with members in person, on the phone and electronically
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience in association management systems and project management software
Travel
This position requires 5-10% domestic travel throughout the year.

This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
