Summary/Objective
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data and Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. This role will manage data collection, business analysis, data visualization, and data governance to support strategic decision-making. The analyst will work closely with business teams to extract insights and create automated reporting. Additionally, the analyst will lead data governance initiatives to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with company policies.
Essential Functions

1. Data Analysis & Business Analysis • Collect, clean, and organize data from multiple internal and external data sources. • Perform analysis by identifying trends, opportunities, and challenges within datasets to support business decisions. • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify key insights and actionable recommendations. • Assist the CFO and Operations teams with the development and tracking performance metrics and dashboards. • Work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data-informed insights.
2. Data Visualization & Reporting • Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI. • Assist with the development and automation of business reports, ensuring data is presented clearly and effectively. • Design data stories and presentations to communicate findings in a compelling manner. • Assist in improving reporting efficiency by automating manual processes.
3. Data Governance & Quality Management • Lead data governance initiatives, including data quality assessment, metadata management, and documentation of data sources. • Support the implementation of data classification and standardization practices. • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy policies, and regulatory requirements. • Identify inconsistencies and gaps in data and collaborate with teams to resolve them.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills. • Basic understanding of business analysis methodologies and KPI tracking. • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks. • Excellent communication skills to translate data findings into business insights. • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality. • Self-directed and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

This position is a full-time, exempt position. Where will you work? We are a remote-first organization. We do have office space and there will be times when an in-person division meeting or staff meeting will be held at the office. Some staff work in the office 2 – 3 times per week, others come in once a month. The key is to identify with supervisors what works best for staff to produce the best outcomes. The APS office is based in Rockville, MD (Washington DC metro area) and preference will be given to candidates from this area.

Education and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in data science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Business Strategy or a related field. • One to five years of experience working in data analysis or business intelligence roles. • Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R for data analysis. • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools. Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau strongly preferred. • Experience or interest in data governance, data management, and compliance frameworks. • Experience with data manipulation and working with large datasets is a plus. • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure SQL Databases, and DAX queries. Microsoft Fabric experience a plus.
