POSITION SUMMARY:
ULI is seeking a Senior Manager to join the ULI Product Council team. This is a great opportunity to work within a mission-driven organization and contribute to ULI’s most valued, full membership engagement and networking opportunity for more than 3,200 industry leaders. Product Councils are relatively small groups of full members based on specific real estate topics. Council membership provides a forum for information exchange, sharing of best practices, and networking. Membership is highly sought after within the current 69 Councils. The Product Council program is about the leaders in the room and how they interact with one another.
The Senior Manager, Product Councils is an integral member of the Product Council team. This position is responsible for the overall membership operations of the Product Council program with direct supervision of the Senior Associate. The Senior Manager reports to the Vice President, Product Councils. The Senior Manager ensures proper oversight, coordination and communication of the program requirements to candidates, members and leadership in all facets of Product Council members.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in downtown Washington, D.C. in a hybrid role with two to three days in office. Travel may be necessary within the U.S. twice a year.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with volunteer leadership of up to 70 Councils to:
Ensure the proper functioning of each Council subject to ULI’s governance rules and appointment of leadership positions.
Manage the Council Annual Refresh process.
Provide advice and communicate proactively to Product Council leadership on any needed changes to enhance the Council experience for all members.
Support Council leadership on recruitment and retention of members, utilizing connections and the ULI Navigator interest submissions.
Manage the Council interest list via Navigator including responding to submitted interest forms, and quarterly follow up with unappointed applicants.
Work with Council members to:
Provide information and guidance on the Council membership process and make valuable connections to Council where appropriate.
Ensure adherence to the Product Council program requirements and expectations, by monitoring:
Council Affiliation Fee payments
Meeting attendance
ULI Full Membership
Develop and distribute all marketing materials and collateral for Product Council membership, with support from ULI’s broader marketing and communication team.
Responsible for annual billing of the 3200+ Product Council members and oversee monthly follow up process of the team to ensure timely payments of membership invoices.
Oversee and coordinate Product Council membership activities at each ULI Fall and Spring Meeting annually:
Manage the Product Council Guest program to include placement and processing of all Council guests and speakers, and administering various guest programs such as the Emerging Leader Product Council Opportunity and ULI Graduate Student Fellows
Collect, format, and post each Product Council agendas.
Distribute, collect, and process each Product Council attendance, either through sign-in forms or digitally.
In addition to the above duties, the Senior Manager, Product Councils will work on special projects as needed which include:
Manage the Marty Stern Inclusion Fund by working with the ULI Foundation to track annual giving donations and expenditure of these funds to support Product Council DEI initiatives.
Application of critical thinking and analysis skills to the continued improvement of service delivery to the Product Council members through database, communications and other enhancements.
Serve as a member of the ULI Product Council staff team and collaborate with team members on increasing the value proposition of Council membership.
Special projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of related experience in a membership role preferred.
Previous people management experience.
Professional oral and written communication skills
Tact and experience working with senior business and public sector executives in a membership/client relations role.
Experience working with and managing volunteers.
Ability to prioritize tasks, to handle multiple tasks concurrently and completely, with responsible follow-through and high levels of accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Confidence and ability to communicate with senior industry leaders.
Ability to respect confidentiality, handle sensitive information, and manage delicate situations
