The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISSAS) seeks an experienced, Executive Director to work alongside the Board of Directors to lead and support all areas of the society. Together the Executive Director and Board will refine the organization’s strategic plan for providing outstanding member programs and services, and for growing membership. The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations required to successfully implement the strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities
The Executive Director’s role will include, but not be limited to:
- Support the Board of Directors and Committees
- Budget development and ongoing financial management
- Drive revenue growth
- Design and implement membership growth plan
- Enhance existing, and launch new, member programs and services
- Drive the Annual Meeting’s growth in terms of value, attendance and revenue
- Build and execute web and social media strategy
- Oversee external contractors managing online journal and other publications
- Oversee external consultant and committee with advocacy activities
- Solidify and develop corporate relations
- Ensure transparency and compliance with financial, tax, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee organizational governance
Required Qualifications
- Medical association management experience, and / or management experience with medical device companies.
- Successful track record working with volunteer Boards and Committees
- Highly professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Project management skills, with track record of successful completion of projects
- Expertise with managing daily business operations

The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS) is a global society focused on advancing spine surgery to improve patient care and outcomes. Its activities include an Annual Meeting, an online journal, advocacy, and webinars. ISASS is supported by the Executive Director, one half-time staff member, a meeting planning team, external consultants, and a nine-member board of directors.
