The CEO of the Adirondacks Accountable Care Organization is a highly visible and strategically important role at the center of the transformation to population-based health care and payment reform efforts in New York which includes member partners University of Vermont Health Network's Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and Hudson Headwaters Health Network. Additionally there are four participating hospitals and their employed physician practices; Elizabethtown Community Hospital; Glens Falls Hospital; Adirondack Health; and Alice Hyde Medical Center; as well as participating independent physician practices across the region. The CEO will be the executive leading and coordinating the Adirondacks ACO's financial and operational functions managed by the Adirondacks ACO senior leadership and staff. The CEO is also responsible for developing the ACO's strategy and executive-level stakeholder communication.
The CEO role will include a strong partnership with the ACO's Physician Medical Leadership and governance on the design and implementation of the ACO's clinical model and population health programs, and the technology which enables it. The CEO is responsible for establishing and maintaining open, constructive communications and collaborative relations with administrative and clinical leaders, physicians and clinicians across the network, hospital CEOs/CFOs/CMOs, the ACO's Board of Managers, provider association leaders, health plan representatives and senior New York governmental officials is also an important part of the role. As the principal operational liaison, the CEO balances appropriate ACO autonomy and the need for effective and efficient integration the of ACO's administrative processes and operations with those of its parent/member organization(s).
The CEO reports to the Board of Managers of Adirondacks ACO. Reporting to the CEO are executive and departmental leadership roles and other leaders or staff as designated. The organizational chart and reporting relationships within Adirondacks ACO are designed and implemented by the CEO of Adirondacks ACO in consultation with the Adirondacks ACO's Board of Managers Executive Committee, and in alignment with the Adirondacks ACO LLC Operating Agreement and approved annual budget.
- Serves as the direct administrative link between the ACO and Member executive teams.
- Serves as the liaison between the ACO program and the Governing Board.
- Develops strong relationships with regional healthcare stakeholder leadership and ensures a collaborative relationship between the ACO and providers, health plans and the Adirondack Health Institute.
- Manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization through improvement of its operational function.
- Develops a business plan for the ACO program for long term financial viability.
- Drives initiatives that organizationally contribute to the long-term operational excellence of the ACO program.
- Establishes strategic plan for ACO and oversees the execution on strategic plan.
- Oversees and works alongside the ongoing Board Committees and ACO staff to accomplish the goals and objectives of the ACO Program.
- Negotiates payer contracts that reward participating providers for improved quality of care, cost of care and maintains the Medical Home infrastructure.
- Leads in the development of population based payment models and value based payments.
