Position Summary/Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for managing and providing strategic oversight for a variety of USSD programs and projects. This position interfaces with internal and external stakeholders in various aspects of project planning, execution, and closure. Their responsibilities revolve around overseeing project operation, documentation maintenance, and coordinating tasks to ensure project goals are achieved efficiently.
USSD is a small staff organization, so from time to time, the Project Manager will be required to assist with duties outside of this job description.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with leadership to plan, manage, and implement special projects as assigned.
Work with leadership to identify and implement project management tools, resources, and key organizational metrics for major initiatives.
Monitors compliance, tracks project milestones and deliverables, while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.
Oversee project teams providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Provides logistical support to the project team members, volunteer leaders, and USSD leadership as it relates to assigned projects (i.e., scheduling meetings, assembling, organizing, and distributing materials, managing ongoing correspondence).
Facilitates effective communication channels to ensure all stakeholders are informed about project progress, changes, and updates.
Assist in identifying and documenting project risks and issues, escalating them to the leadership as necessary.
Provide ongoing feedback and suggestions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned programs and projects.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training related to project and/or program management. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other relevant certification is preferred.
3 or more years of professional experience in a program/project management related role. Experience with federal grants is a plus.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects in excess of $300k and/or over multiple years.
Experience working with volunteers and committees in an association/nonprofit environment a plus.
Exceptional time management, project management, and organizational ability.
Experience with web-based tools, technology, business software, association management software, webinar platforms, learning management systems, and mobile apps (i.e., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Project, Adobe Systems, Zoom, SurveyMonkey, GrowthZone, Memberclicks, Elevate LMS, Cvent, etc.)
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail, work accuracy, and work quality.
Experience in working in a virtual/remote environment.
