POSITION PURPOSE:
The Senior Designer, Regional and National Accounts is responsible for the design and production of assets for direct mail, integrated web, digital, and social media campaigns to support BDI’s Regional and National clients’ fundraising and marketing efforts. This position may also assist with the design of Network projects.
The Senior Designer, Regional and National Accounts oversees and manages the Regional and National Design and Production Artist personnel (contractors and employees), manages design workflow, and oversees design projects. This position interacts with BDI Directors across departments to ensure that objectives and deadlines are met while working to improve efficiencies and best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees all Regional and National design projects from conceptualization to delivery
Concepts, designs and produces digital, print, and social media campaigns that support our clients’ fundraising and marketing efforts
Arranges and assigns projects to Production Artist employees and contractors for Regional and National client projects; reviews work to ensure high quality, and ensures projects are produced in accordance with creative direction from the Client Services team
Develops identities (visual aesthetic, imagery, iconography, typography, layouts) for campaigns—including assets for social, digital, email, printed collateral, and more
Thinks creatively to develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts while maintaining campaign objectives
Helps translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies, telling inspiring stories that drive measurable impact
Keeps up to date on industry trends, print and digital marketing best practices, and researches new ideas to ensure campaigns are evolving in a constantly changing print and digital landscape
Works closely and collaborates with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Creative, and Client Service
Participates in collaborative revision and approval process until final design is approved
Prioritizes and manages multiple projects within design specifications and deadlines
Participates and contributes to meetings as appropriate, including weekly Design Team meetings
Presents creative work internally and to clients, giving a rationale for aesthetic choices and how the creative work meets strategic goals
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 8 years of design experience
Must have an exceptional portfolio of distinctive work with design examples created for print and digital marketing
Background in designing for direct marketing and/or for nonprofits is a plus
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Design Skills:
Advanced skill sets in designing for print, web and multimedia, ideally having produced integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, and print. Background in designing for nonprofits is a plus
Strong conceptual skills, high-level sense of design, layout, and typography—both for digital and print applications
Mastery of design fundamentals: typography, composition, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy
Working knowledge of the graphic production process, file preparation for print and digital platforms, photo editing and animated GIF creation
A broad thinker who can offer a variety of design solutions
Ability to take a project from concept to completion through an iterative creative process in a collaborative team environment
Relationship Building: Team player with a collaborative spirit; fosters productive relationships; values others' opinions, shows appreciation, and seeks to understand different perspectives
Communication Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires the ability to pitch concepts to stakeholders. Additionally, a Senior Designer must clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate on cross-functional teams and offer creative and effective solutions
Computer Skills: Expert knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other programs in the Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with motion design is a plus (After Effects, Premiere Pro); must demonstrate proficiency in the use of business-related software such as Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Workfront and Dynamics, and quickly learn, understand and implement the operation of the agency’s e-Tools
Decision-Making and Problem-Solving: Must be a self-driven problem solver and question-asker with a positive attitude; must demonstrate strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Organization Skills: Must have excellent organization, planning, execution, and time management skills
Attention to Detail: Must pay close attention to detail, developing error-free designs across all mediums
Must be punctual, flexible and able to function well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
