ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Non-profit Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis and modeling, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This position will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making and driving the company's financial success. This position reports to the CFO and performs such other functions as may be assigned.
Requirements
Responsible for production of monthly financial statements. This entails monthly general ledger review, including actual vs. budget comparisons, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and providing both oral and written financial analysis on assigned projects
Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making and drive the company's financial success
Assist with the preparation of presentations for senior management and stakeholders
Work with staff to develop annual budgets for assigned projects
Monitor accounts receivable and payables and provide assistance with the collections and coding of both
Assist with the maintenance and data integrity of the accounting and related software for the assigned associations
Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy
Facilitate annual audit and tax return preparation. Prepare audit work papers for projects as needed
Work with Executive Directors and other staff to ensure that contractual requirements are followed and to provide financial analysis including recommendations for enhanced business performance
Organize and work independently on multiple assigned tasks/projects and complete assignments within specific deadlines
Compile and analyze complex information, research and develop solutions to complex issues
Work well under pressure and ability to multitask
Perform other duties as assigned by CFO
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
At least 5 years accounting and/or financial analysis experience preferred
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Adobe software
Experience with Great Plains and NetForum software preferred
Ability to be proactive, curious, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-financial stakeholders
Demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior
Remain flexible in order to adapt to change in work environment
Excellent time-management, problem prevention and problem solving skills
Work accurately with close attention to detail
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Work effectively, professionally and tactfully with AI’s workforce, team leaders, senior staff and outside companies
Ability to work in a hybrid office setting
Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out of town travel
