About Robin Hood Robin Hood is New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization. In addition to funding 200+ of the most effective nonprofits serving New Yorkers experiencing poverty, we amplify financial support with a range of management assistance. Building on more than 30+ years of experience, Robin Hood is expanding our impact with an explicit focus on lifting families sustainably and measurably out of poverty through influencing policy, raising our thought leadership profile, importing and exporting effective ideas and strategies nationally, and building new collaborations with strategic partners.
Position Overview Robin Hood funds more than 200 of the most effective poverty-fighting programs in the five boroughs of New York City. In addition to our core grant making, Robin Hood provides management and technical assistance to help groups build capacity, and our Governance and Board Placement Program is a key piece of this work. Through this service, we connect talented individuals who are interested in dedicating their time and skills to the boards of organizations funded by Robin Hood. We work closely with these partners to assess and prioritize their strategic board needs and develop initiatives to strengthen the performance of their boards through trainings, events and access to consulting support. The Director, Governance and Board Placement will develop and manage overall strategy for all governance related activities including board candidate recruitment, customized governance trainings, advice on committee structure and governance processes, cultivation with corporate partners and/or affinity groups, and development of resources/tools for Robin Hood funded community partners.

The Director, Governance and Board Placement is on the Management Assistance team and will report to the Managing Director, Management Assistance.
