FLSA STATUS: Exempt The Director of Education and Accreditation manages the Education department staff of three and coordinates with instructors and course developers to provide superior educational services to chapters, members, and customers of the ASFMRA. The department is an essential source of non-dues revenue for the association by providing professional designations, qualifying and continuing education to a broad audience of rural property professionals. The ASFMRA education product/service lines consist of face-to-face training events, live and recorded webinars, online learning, and publications. Broadly, this position includes coordination of education development and delivery as well as managing content and quality of classroom materials, member records, and accreditation processes. This leadership position requires a high level of skill in navigating complex relationships between staff, members, and committees, who often have different ideas and priorities. The role manages the education budget and aims to provide the best education to our members while maximizing the value to the association overall. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Management of Education Department staff and Educational Activities - Responsible for the growth and development of staff members
- Oversee quality development of course material
- Coordinate and manage the delivery of all core education and seminars
- Coordinate with Marketing and Communications Director in development of catalogs, flyers and other promotional materials
- Oversee the scheduling of all national education programs and coordination with chapters
- Coordination of state education offerings and promotion
- Oversee revisions of student and instructor materials, ensuring that only the most updated materials are available to members
Online Education Project Manager - Work with committee to select content contributors for on-demand education development
- Maintain working group communication and development schedule, serving as interface between Instructional Designer and working group
- Serve as LMS administrator
Accreditation Process - Act as lead and point of contact for those applying for their ARA
- Work with Education Vice-Chair to coordinate review of applications and to select graders
- Communicate with applicants throughout the process
Coordination of Education Committee activities and relationships - Act as a liaison between committees and council, in partnership with the EVP, to coordinate the direction of the education department that best supports the association
- Oversight of the development of three to six new seminars yearly
- Participate in and coordinate relationships with AQB, ECAFS, TAF, AARO, and others
- Develop and coordinate annual instructor workshop
- Develop and coordinate a developer workshop (every other year)
- Serve as staff lead for education committees
- Produce reports of activities for the Education committees or the executive council
Education Department budget - Develop and manage the department budget
- Develop a strategy to maximize education dollars while providing a competitive value to our members
Success Measures - Development and performance level of the education department and its staff
- Progressive improvement in committees and council initiatives
- Profitable education offerings
- Development of three to six new seminars each year
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Understanding of and experience with professional, non-institution adult learning
- Project management experience, working against deadlines with multiple priorities and under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, streaming platforms, and video.
- Experience working within association management software
- Experience with learning management systems a plus
- A proven track record of effective volunteer and speaker management
- Self-motivated, attention to detail, results-oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Must be a change advocate and be able to implement new strategies on the fly
- High-level customer service and communications skills, including negotiating complex relationships that can often have differing ideas and priorities
- Impeccable skills in use of the English language, both verbal and written
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet production timelines
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Management, Education, or similar field
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in a department leadership role required, preferably in an education department
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience
- Experience in an agricultural association a plus
- Experience with online platforms
Physical Demands
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. It requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, and set up and maintain work files. Day or overnight travel by air and/or automobile may be requested. Working Conditions
Most work is performed in a general office environment. Currently, due to Denver office capacity restrictions related to the novel coronavirus, this position may temporarily be remote. Occasional travel may be required to support live events. Flexibility to occasionally work additional hours or hours outside of regular business hours. About the ASFMRA
