TheNational Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) – the premier organization serving and advocating for Black executives in the healthcare industry – has retained WittKieffer to identify the organization's Executive Director (ED). This role has been created as one part of recent changes at NAHSE that also adapted its governance model, including the role of the appointed Board Chair (now President). These changes were driven by the Board's desire to have full-time leadership as a key step toward greater sustainability and elevating the focus and impact of NAHSE's initiatives.
Founded in 1968, NAHSE's purpose is in promoting the advancement and development of Black healthcare leaders, and elevating the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and underserved communities. Its basic objective is to develop and maintain a strong viable national body to more effectively have input in the national healthcare delivery system.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED will serve as the chief spokesperson for the organization and have the overall responsibility for NAHSE including its strategic, programmatic and administrative objectives and performance. Priorities for the ED include growing membership, developing and optimizing industry relationships, and strengthening NAHSE's voice and impact with legislative, regulatory, and industry organizations. The ED will also have responsibility for overseeing NAHSE's staff, addressing financial and operational issues, and providing leadership and support to NAHSE's local chapters located throughout the country. The ED will partner with and support the Board Chair, Executive Committee and Board in a variety of areas, including keeping them apprised of key issues, shaping strategic and programmatic/operating plans and supporting how they fulfill their responsibilities as Board members.
Candidates should be mission-driven, visionary leaders able to develop and turn strategy into action. Candidates must have a track record of building effective relationships with people of influence and developing and expanding organizational capacities and services. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and demonstrate passion and purpose in ways that enlist others and create followership. While healthcare experience is preferred, we invite interest from leaders who have demonstrated successes in serving as an effective spokesperson, developing innovative programs for members and providing exceptional leadership for a service-focused organization.
