The American Trucking Associations has an immediate opening for the Vice President of Membership Sales. This position calls for a business-minded sales professional who understands association management and the transportation industry. This position supports the Membership Management Department’s objectives of increasing membership, meeting retention goals and providing prompt, accurate and useful information to members, affiliates and staff by representing and promoting ATA membership and its value to existing and prospective members.
The Vice President of Membership Sales works to retain existing ATA members, directs the effort to increase revenue from the sale of new memberships and sponsorships, informs members about ATA activities and programs, and manages a wide range of member services. This position manages the Grass Roots activities that encourages selected members to contact their national legislators regarding issues of critical importance to the motor carrier industry. The incumbent also directs inside sales support activities through the same office. This position oversees a team of four (4) Regional Vice Presidents.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Relevant Experience -
BS/BA Degree in Business Administration, marketing, sales or related field; Minimum 10 years of successful outside sales experience required: Proven successful sales experience within the trucking industry preferred.
Skill Requirements -
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and perform multiple functions simultaneously; Strong supervisory skills, proven strategic planning and implementation abilities required; Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, the ability to conduct business in a variety of business and social settings, ability to work well with people and a diverse industry, ability to understand and effectively ascertain and communicate complex membership dues schedules, issues and “rules”.
