The Society for Neuroscience is searching for an Author Outreach Coordinator. In this new role within the Scientific Publications department, the Author Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for strengthening the author services provided to our authors, with emphasis on the post-publication phase, and by expanding outreach efforts for recruiting authors via marketing and communications campaigns. Working with the Scientific Operations Manager and the Senior Publications Manager, the Author Outreach Coordinator will work to ensure a high level of author satisfaction with the pre- and post-publication processes, encourage author engagement with our journals, and facilitate promoting the author's work to the mutual benefit of the society and the author. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong interest in non-profits, and who would like to be a part of a fast paced and dynamic team that focuses on the customer experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Using clear and precise written and verbal skills, communicate with authors after publication to highlight their articles and provide usage metrics using available tools, as well as providing opportunities for re-engagement with the journal.
Coordinate author recruitment campaigns, including drafting correspondence and managing all communications. Track key metrics and provide data on recruitment initiatives.
Oversee all aspects of the Reviewer Mentoring Program. Regularly communicate with mentors and trainees in program. Ensure program participants can enroll in and complete the program in a timely fashion and respond to all queries regularly.
Request testimonials and summaries for use in promoting the authors' work and draft promotion copy.
Act as the primary point-of-contact for both positive and negative author feedback.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications departments to promote the journals and attract and retain authors as directed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required. Degrees in the life sciences preferred.
2 years of relevant experience.
Excellent writing skills to produce clear and compelling author communications.
Demonstrates strong attention to details and able to consistently achieve results.
Collaborative style, strong interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
Ability to be flexible and adaptable, while still capable of adhering to systems and protocols in place to achieve consistent results in an unpredictable environment.
Demonstrate self-sufficiency, organization, and discipline to handle multiple projects with attention to planning, implementation, and organizational needs.
