Boutique consulting agency focused on developing customized strategies and solutions to organizations and destinations that host major meetings & tradeshows seeks dynamic, knowledgeable Marketing & Communications Director with experience and expertise in writing, marketing, and communications. We partner with our clients (associations, DMOs and corporations) to develop new strategies for organizational growth, create overarching communications and marketing strategies, integrate new business models, identify new audiences, and discover untapped opportunities to maximize the relevancy, sustainability, and growth of their organizations and their assets, such as large conventions and tradeshows.
The successful candidate is a problem solver in a fast-moving and highly diverse environment and will be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and timeliness are not compromised. The Marketing & Communications Director will be working directly with agency leaders and our sales team, along with clients. The key responsibilities will be to support the sales and marketing efforts of the agency through proposal development and sales and marketing initiatives. This role will be able to translate client needs clearly and deliver proposals that demonstrate how MYB can help our clients and prospective clients be successful. This candidate has a love of writing and organizing and can easily take complex problems and communicate them in easy to understand and relevant ways.
Contributing to the overall marketing of the agency, this candidate will assist in leading internal marketing initiatives and campaigns from conception through execution and have opportunities to lead marketing strategy for our client projects. Candidate must be comfortable and skilled at keeping all the project needs front and center while using subject matter expertise and critical thinking to ensure outstanding client deliverables.
Working directly with senior leaders, assess the needs of clients and strategize on proposal development, appropriate value propositions for proposals, presentations and other appropriate related sales materials.
Review RFP specifications.
Research and resolve complex issues pertaining to RFP responses using critical thinking skills to ensure solid recommendations and solutions.
Write proposals demonstrating understanding of client’s needs, outlining solutions and services and ensuring all RFP requirements are addressed.
Become knowledgeable about clients’ business practices and functions and understand the relationship between company products/services and the appropriate needs for clients.
Proof and edit proposals ensuring content and context is appropriate.
Proactively make suggestions to ensure clear and compelling communication to “sell” agency services.
Client Deliverables & POVs
Working with Account Strategists, assist in writing and editing client deliverables – ensure the story is being told with “one” voice
Ensure the translation of strategies are communicated clearly and purposefully
Marketing Internal (For MYB):
Lead all efforts related to Agency’s marketing and communication strategy and plans
Using marketing automation, direct and manage campaigns and follow up (use of HubSpot)
Proactively develop case studies, sell sheets and other tools that will support marketing efforts
Serve as website and CRM (HubSpot) administrator, working collaboratively with Creative dept and Executive team, handling all day to day needs of database management
Research industry speaking opportunities for Executive Team and proactively assist with session submissions and completing requests for speaking engagements
Lead efforts to help get MYB published using appropriate and relevant channels
Marketing External (Client Projects/Strategies):
Working with MYB consulting teams, work with clients to understand current marketing plan
Author and lead the development of marketing assessments and strategies for client marketing projects, which may also include measurement strategies, SEO strategies, etc. as required as part of overall client deliverables
Prepare, as needed, competitive and comparative analysis along with environmental scans
Edit & proof final client POVs as requested
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills, interest and experience:
8+ years relevant experience in marketing, sales or strategic planning
Demonstrated experience developing marketing strategies, crafting and executing campaigns and subsequent measurement of success
Progressive experience in Sales
Excellent phone and people skills
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to work with clients and develop relationships
Ability to work across different groups and disciplines
Demonstrated talent for consultative thinking/selling, tailoring solutions and services
Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research
Collaborative team player, yet proven ability to work independently as required
