This role provides strategic leadership and management for all educational and professional development programming including in-person and digital platforms, bringing best practices to program execution, and applying current and emerging adult learning strategies. The position leads the development of curriculum using diversified delivery methods that align with the Society’s six domains of practice and supports new types of learners and program types for the future. Additionally, they will interact with subject matter experts, peers, and staff to design curricula and help organize content based on competency-based learning objectives and quality reviews (evaluation and assessment) of courses. Furthermore, the VP will oversee the management, negotiations, planning, budgeting, marketing, administration, and on-site management of all education programs including the certification program.
Working with the senior team to analyze business needs and market opportunities, responsible for the development and implementation of a revenue-generating annual professional develop plan for the Society’s members and other customers.
Supervises the design and development of instructional materials, programs and processes for digital and web-enabled course development and learning strategies including instructor-led and web-based asynchronous and synchronous events.
Leads the planning and implementation of Build Business (our annual conference of 1,200 attendees) and The Pinnacle Experience (an executive learning event).
Supervises the design and development of all training materials.
Oversee the SMPS Certified Professional Services Marketer program.
Recruits and collaborates with a variety of subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop and plan educational activities. Develops appropriate learning materials and tools to guide and educate the SME groups on their roles and responsibilities within the process.
Produces, edits, and distributes media content via our online learning management system and video library.
Develops measurements and evaluation tools to test the effectiveness of the training developed.
Designs and conducts member needs assessments and prepares needs assessment reports.
Builds effective relationships with SMPS members, ensuring their education needs and objectives are being met/exceeded.
Develops and presents reports as assigned to committees and/or content development work-groups.
Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in education, instructional design or related discipline preferred.
Minimum of ten years’ experience in the development and implementation of educational programs and systems, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
Five years’ supervisory experience.
Extensive knowledge of educational program and product development, certification, and learning technologies.
Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of adult learning principles.
Highly organized, ability to prioritize and carry out multiple concurrent tasks in a fast pace environment, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Strong database and computer skills.
