The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for overseeing the CRE Brand and producing all major messaging, promotion, and communications of The Counselors of Real Estate and its primary programs and activities. This individual also serves as the organization’s key media contact. The position reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer of the Counselor organization.
Strengthen visibility of The Counselors of Real Estate and the “CRE” Credential, both nationally and globally.
Explain and promote the superior and varied real estate expertise contained within the CRE membership.
Write and oversee design of materials (brochures, flyers, videos, and power point presentations etc.) promoting The Counselors of Real Estate, the CRE Foundation, and key organizational initiatives and activities, including the organization’s two annual conferences.
Lead external media relations, building and maintaining strong relationships with the press to increase organizational and member visibility. Handle and refer media inquiries, orchestrate member interviews and podium opportunities, write and circulate regular press releases and place stories which showcase achievements of the CRE organization and/or its membership, with special emphasis on those related to high level real estate problem solving, community restoration/enhancement, and global issues rooted in real estate.
Ensure that The Counselors of Real Estate retains its role as a primary source of commentary and thought leadership on all matters relating to real estate.
Oversee website design and structure, developing a systematic strategy to maintain current content, envision meaningful future enhancements, and supervise regular deletion of material which is outdated or no longer relevant. Aggressively ensure that the CRE Website remains a useful and reliable tool for both membership and the public.
Collaborate with appropriate staff members to develop and execute customized marketing/promotional campaigns, showcasing, to target audiences, the products, services and/or areas of organizational activity they oversee; particular emphasis should be placed on explaining the inherent prestige of the CRE Credential and the unique member experience of those who attain it.
Collaborate with the organization’s CEO, External Affairs Committee, and membership base to develop and promote The Counselors’ Annual Top Ten List of Issues Affecting Real Estate.
Oversee all Communications efforts of The Counselors of Real Estate and supervise employees charged with development of the organization’s professional Journal, digital communications, and website maintenance.
Core Qualifications of Director of Marketing and Communications
Undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
A minimum of five years’ experience in communications, marketing or related field.
Significant writing experience and the ability to draft crisp, concise, compelling copy.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Familiarity with WordPress CMS and social media platforms a plus.
Strong multi tasker demonstrating proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects within established timeframes with minimal supervision.
Ability to work collaboratively, recognizing and utilizing the diverse abilities of staff colleagues and member resources.
Knowledge of real estate and MS Access query writing a plus – though not a requirement.
Vision and Creativity (ability to conceive of innovative approaches in promoting The Counselors of Real Estate, its credential, programs, and services).
