The Marketing and Communication department is responsible for Association communications and membership marketing, including the generation of non-dues revenue for all publications, press relations, digital and print communications, and the association database. The department creates and implements the strategy for all marketing and communication activities.
This position leads key marketing and communications efforts for ACMA membership and core dues-related programs and activities. This includes various print and digital association communication platforms including websites, a magazine, social media, and newsletters. The position is also responsible for developing and executing the marketing for ACMA communication products, membership and dues related programs. The position works collaboratively with other marketing and communication staff, issue leaders, vendors and ACMA members to help set the strategic marketing and communication direction for the association. The position directly supervises one employee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor the ACMA brand and messaging inside and outside the organization.
Create, and executive the development of marketing strategy and plans to recruit and retain ACMA members; to market dues related programs to our members and the industry, to market and brand the industry to our members’ customers, and to increase the subscription lists and advertising sales of communication products.
Manage and oversee the development and production of the following:
ACMA social media.
Communications to members and the industry including digital newsletters, , the Annual Report, and various other publications.
ACMA and advertising information in our magazine, Composites Manufacturing
Manage various vendors including, printers and designers, public relations firms, marketing firms, writers, and others.
Create and manage the development of the content and content strategy for ACMA and its publications, including social media, websites, ACMA branding and messaging, and other specific ACMA marketing and communication campaigns.
Manage media relations, including responding to media requests for information and facilitating media interviews. Maintain press contact list. Oversee the development of press/information kits, press and news releases, fact sheets and talking points for publicity of the organization's programs.
Increase the reach of ACMA marketing and communication efforts by expanding our reach and lists, and increasing advertising and branding to outside audiences.
Analyze the results of marketing and communication efforts through the development and collection of metrics. Make recommendations for changes to the campaigns based on findings.
Staff member and administrator to ACMA Marketing and Communications Committee, a Board-level Committee.
Provide input to and manage various Marketing & Communications budgets.
Supervise Communications and Marketing Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong writing, editing and proofreading.
Ability to work well independently.
Ability to effectively present and communicate large amounts of technical information in both print and digital mediums.
Familiarity with content management systems, databases (NetForum), email marketing software, and design software.
Understanding of current trends in marketing, communications, publishing, advertising, graphic design and social media.
Strong computer skills, specifically in MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Adobe and InDesign.
Strong organization skills, ability to establish priorities, and manage several projects simultaneously.
Establish positive working relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of people.
Communicate and present ideas effectively orally and in writing, in a professional manner.
Ability to interpret, analyze, organize and apply company policies, objectives, and operations requirements.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience, with specific responsibilities in marketing and communications.
Strong desire to work within a highly collaborative environment coupled with the ability to manage projects independently.
Excellent manager, able to engage and motivate staff individually and collectively.
Experience implementing digital marketing strategies, including search engine optimization and email marketing, to achieve association goals.
Strong leadership, strategy, and coaching skills
Association and/or experience communicating business, manufacturing, science and technical information preferred.
