RESPOND, Inc, located in Somerville, MA, seeks a Chief Program Officer (CPO) who is responsible for coordination, administration, and quality of RESPOND’s portfolio of programs and services. The CPO serves as a member of the executive leadership team and provides strategic vision and leadership that ensures the continued delivery of services to the community RESPOND serves. This position will provide the right candidate the opportunity to create new programs, implement cutting edge services and be a pioneer in the work to end domestic violence.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Program Officer holds the primary responsibility for RESPOND’s service continuum. This position is responsible for coordinating multiple programs in multiple locations in Suffolk and Middlesex counties; High Risk Programs, Residential Services/ Emergency Shelter, Trauma Response and General Community Based Services. The CPO must be strategic thinking and planning, results driven, posses business and administrative skills, have an ability to collaborate and make decisions that support RESPOND’s mission. To be successful, the CPO must excel at delegating tasks and have exceptional communication and active listening skills. The CPO must be a strong leader who is able to collaborate with the Programs Team which includes volunteers, interns, Case Managers, and Coordinators. The CPO works collaboratively with all senior leaders and the Board of Directors. This position supervises all Directors, Coordinators and Managers in the programs and services division and other staff/team members. The Chief Programs Officer is often the forward-facing voice of the organization and is actively involved in the domestic violence prevention community, as well as the community-at-large. This position also includes working directly with survivors as needed, training new staff and modeling in the milieu, it is a hands on role. The CPO is also the lead in guiding confidentiality and safety practice within our programs. Salary range is $65,000-85,000 annually.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, forward thinking, energetic, entrepreneurial thinker. This position requires schedule flexibility, long hours (45-50 per week depending on the time of year), strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as a sense of humor. We’re looking for a professional who has an interest in being part of the agency’s growth and leadership. The ideal candidate possesses an undergraduate degree (Masters strongly preferred) along with at least 7-10 years of work experience in human services, with 5 years supervisory experience.
