The Senior Manager reports to the Director, Research and Quality (R&Q)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Minimum of five years experience in healthcare, professional association or related environment; or three years of experience and a related Masters degree (e.g. MPH, MHS, MBA). Working knowledge of outreach and educational activities for patients and physicians; understanding of the development of clinical practice guidelines preferred. Familiarity with quality measurement, data management, and marketing preferred. . Understanding and knowledge of the health care industry, private and academic practice environments, and physician performance and quality programs required. Attention to detail and follow-through essential. Excellent communication and project management skills required. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully multi-task competing priorities. Some travel required.
Under the oversight of the Director ;Q, supports the development and dissemination of quality products, including clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), clinical consensus statements (CCSs), and quality measures.
In collaboration with the Director , Sr. Manager , and Sr. Manager Quality & Performance Measurement, and volunteers, lead the development of patient materials and tools for the quality products produced.
Works in collaboration with relevant committees and provides staff support to performance/quality measurement groups, task forces, and clinical committees as assigned.
Collaborate with the national quality organizations on the development and dissemination of performance and quality measures across Academy membership and assist with recruiting patients, consumers and nurses for quality product work groups; attend Quality meetings as required.
In conjunction with the Director , contributes to the strategic plan for quality, research and measures development and methods of implementation across Academy membership.
Supports the development and dissemination of quality products; including working with outside organizations to recruit their members for workgroups in these activities under the direction of the Director R & Q.
Track quality activities nationwide and develop relationships and collaborations with other organizations, including but not limited to the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation’s Choosing Wisely, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Agency for Healthcare Research ; Quality, and others involved in physician performance, quality, and outcome measures, and patient safety in organized medicine.
Works in collaboration with other Research and Quality Senior Managers to develop patient summaries, shared-decision making tools, frequently asked questions for patients, and other materials related to the dissemination of quality products for patients, consumers, healthcare providers, and physicians.
Develop correspondences, reports, articles for the AAO-HNSF’s website, The Bulletin, The News, and other publications regarding research and guidelines.
Performs outreach and develops relationships with external organizations for peer review and public comment of quality products.
Represent Research and Quality on cross-functional team meetings.
Staff guideline panels and perform internet research and literature reviews as directed.
May provide direct supervision to an Analyst or Coordinator,.
May participate on an internal team, either through formal assignment, or on an ad hoc basis.
Work collaboratively with other staff, committee leaders, and national efforts to continuously improve process.
Consistently demonstrate courteous, cooperative, and helpful behavior to all contacts, internal and external.
