Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) is currently seeking an Executive Director. This role will require someone who has a strong background in Thought Leadership, Vision Setting, and Event Management with the interpersonal skills that can continue to build on the momentum SCIP has started regarding our established position in the marketplace and community engagement. This individual will need to have strong knowledge of leadership and management principals, a strong business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, diplomatic demeanor, technology knowledge, digital transformation experience, the courage to make and act on tough decisions, and a passion for our Mission, our SCIP community and overall business growth!
SCIP is a global nonprofit membership organization of choice for business intelligence and related discipline professionals. SCIP Chapters, groups and affiliates, based both in the US and internationally, continue to provide local programs and a forum for networking opportunities. This continued growth both domestically and internationally allows for increased opportunities to connect with experts. Individual members come from a variety of industries and sectors, including corporations, government, academia, and consulting. CEOs, Executives, Analysts, Managers, and Researchers are all a part of the SCIP membership organization and they value the practice of CI that will assist them in making better strategic decisions.
Ability to build on the successful foundation of current SCIP initiatives to grow the organization into a best-in-class Business Growth-focused forum, through superior engagements and collaboration with industry and technical thought leaders around intelligence, insights, and strategy
Creates, establishes, and executes on a Business Growth strategy plan as defined by the ED and Board of Directors.
Redefine and differentiate SCIP as THE pre-eminent Industry Forum in the marketplace for intelligence and insights led initiatives that delivers on organizational business growth needs for competitiveness in the market.
Articulates clear messaging internally and externally on strategies, awareness, brand evangelism and promotion to increase relevancy and build membership from all industries.
Leads the coordination and execution of all SCIP programs and events as per the strategic plan of the organization
Partners with the Board of Directors in the development and implementation of the strategic plan
Responsible for growth and expansion of association membership and revenue
Commands the organization’s financials: balance sheet, income statement and budgets and manages financial resources effectively and efficiently in order to grow membership and effectively compete in the marketplace
Continuous monitoring and alignment of membership deliverables to match the ongoing needs of the membership and strategic partners
Ability to convey the strategic vision to employees, board, members, sponsors, academics, and other collaborative relationships within SCIP.
Participates in committee meetings and conferences as well as represents the Association at various global events
Creative management of marketing outreach including social media and membership communications
Explores and develops strategic alliances to better support the growth of the association
Keeps aware of emerging trends in the Intelligence and Insights World, sees beyond these trends to the digital connected enabled environment in order to transcend the objectives and theme of SCIP into one of a Business Growth Enabler for all industries, using the tools of Intelligence, Insights, Technology, Marketing, Communication, etc.
Maintains in-depth knowledge on holistic frameworks that combine digital technology governance, disruptive industry forces, global implications and competitive threats that, when managed appropriately, create business value
Leads team members and partners through multiple projects, executed under timely completion while being able to continually evaluate priorities and make appropriate adjustments

SUPERIOR COMMUNICATOR – This individual must be an expert communicator both in oral and written forms and with both internal and external stakeholders, customers, alliance partners, and members.
STRATEGIC & VISIONARY - Thinks conceptually, imaginatively, systematically and opportunistically in order to drive the organization to success have the
PASSION – This person should have the passion to take SCIP to the next level of value, not just acting as a leader to another Intelligence conference
INTEGRITY – This is flat out non-negotiable! There is no room for questionable character in leadership
DECISIVE – Make decisions and make them at the right time. Exercise prudence to ensure snap judgments or delayed decision-making does not hinder achieving mission critical objectives.
DIPLOMATIC – Can create alliances outside of the organization to achieve common goals and objectives while also creating an eco-system where SCIP is the perceived leader in the marketplace.
RISK TAKER- Senior Leaders have to take risks in order to be successful and this person will be willing to move out into uncharted territory
COURAGEOUS – Exercise moral courage to serve as the beacon for others to emulate and follow. Moreover, leaders do the right thing for the right reason at the right time.
ACCOUNTABLE – Lavish praise on subordinates when victories occur and take responsibility when the team falls short of their objectives. Always start corrective actions with one’s self.
DRIVE – Make something happen. You can have a good plan and a good team, but someone must drive the team to the top of the summit.
TEAM BUILDER – Must bring to the table the ability to build a great team that is not only capable of delivering on strategy but also continues to deliver sustainable growth furthering the vision of the organization.

Association leadership experience and CAE certification preferred
Experience managing and influence Boards and peripheral organizations to coalesce into a functioning deliverable strategy preferred
Previous non-profit experience a plus
