The Lukens Company (TLC) is seeking an Account Director to join its Nonprofit division in our Arlington, VA location. The Account Director is responsible for developing and cultivating strong client relationships, providing strategic direction and addressing client needs, and leading a team. This position reports to the Director of Client Services.
TLC is an award-winning full-service direct response agency that has been providing marketing and fundraising services to political and nonprofit clients for over 30 years. This open position is in the nonprofit division that partners with a variety of organizations such as museums, animal welfare, social welfare, aquarium/zoos, and faith-based missions.
Provide strategic leadership for client accounts and directly-manage
Work with clients to uncover business needs and objectives, craft appropriate strategies, and identify/implement campaigns to help achieve client goals.
Understand clients’ businesses and generate new ideas to enhance client performance.
Create and interpret effective analysis to support campaign recommendations.
Build trusting, collaborative relationships with clients of all levels.
Develop broad industry expertise.
Develop and manage project schedules and client budgets.
Ensure client schedules, campaigns, and programs are executed accurately and on time for each client.
Ensure collaboration among all agency departments and foster great team works.
Provide team leadership that rewards creativity.
Recruit and seek out new clients and opportunities that fit in with the company’s mission.
Promote new products offering to clients within their scope of needs.
Effectively hire when needed and manage staff while helping to maintain a healthy work/life balance for direct reports.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications
7+ years of related industry experience, preferably in direct response fundraising/marketing in agency setting
Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service
Proven experience managing teams working cross-functionality within an organization
Solid experience in formulating and driving long-term strategic account plans and strategies
Advanced negotiation, communication, writing, and organization skills with outstanding attention to detail
Strategic thinking—both in efficient execution of work as well as account management
Proficient in computer software and office equipment
Able to manage and direct 1 to 2 employees
