You will serve as the COO and Kellen’s chief of staff for a significant Kellen client association with members in academia, government, institutions and private professional practice. You will report to and support the Association CEO and Board of Directors, and responsible to and supported by Kellen senior management. You will play a key role in the creation of a lasting and successful partnership between your client association and Kellen.
In this role you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the association’s Kellen staff team and function, ensuring excellence in all aspects of our work, that necessary resources are provided to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization, and preparing the association for the next level of evolution, scale and impact.
You will provide support across a broad spectrum of association responsibilities, including administration, plan implementation and progress monitoring, budget development and oversight, governance support and compliance and membership strategy, recruitment and retention and experience.
Ideal candidates have a track record of successful leadership at an association. Candidates must be invested in organizational learning and culture, questions of scale and sustainability, cultivating leadership and supporting high capacity leaders.
What will you do?
Association Governance and Operations
Collaborate with the CEO support the Board of Directors, set direction and targets, develop and implement programs, identify resources.
Coordinate CEO activities, communicate staff and program status to CEO
Board and committee support, including serving as the staff lead for select committees.
Promote association management best practices to CEO, board and staff
Strategic plan program administration
Budget planning and analysis
Management of a multidisciplinary client team, ensure implementation of scope of work, coordination with Kellen specialists in other departments for service delivery. Ensure staff resources and deliverables are focused on client objectives.
Manage team to results through strong performance management, goal setting, coaching.
Promotes the growth and development of individuals through empowering, advocating and differentiated support
Strategic and Business
Monitor, assess and introduce new trends and initiatives that help the association achieve its mission and goals
Ensure the collection, analysis, and application of data and analytics to inform decision-making and monitor current and future membership and participation trends
Identify new programs, emerging trends and actions to grow the association.
Develop and review business plans and ROI for association programs.
Serve as a source of membership-related expertise for staff, leaders, and other stakeholders.
Develop, implement and monitor a membership growth and retention strategy, including goals, tactics, timeline and performance/ progress-driven metrics
Am I qualified?
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 7 years’ association management leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated experience as a leader of group projects and management of employees.
A self-initiated, innovative thinker who builds trusted, lasting relationships with members, volunteer leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Positive team player in a challenging and changing environment; includes working with a variety of personnel across multiple departments and office locations.
Engages colleagues and stakeholders; collaborative, builds rapport and consensus
