The Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation, a non-operating foundation in Houston Texas, is searching for an independent financial consultant, preferably located in Texas, who will advise the Foundation Staff and Directors concerning management of the portfolio now coming in to the possession of the Foundation. Due to the passing of the last of its founders, the Foundation is evolving from a very small foundation to a very large one. The successful applicant may not be a candidate for management of the portfolio itself but will recommend the structure for managing those assets and assist in selecting a manager or managers for that purpose.
Assets of the Foundation will include securities, oil and gas royalties, ranch land, master limited partnerships, and annuities. The scope of the work will be limited to financial assets only and will include recommendation to the Board of Directors as to the ideal structure for management of the marketable securities, assistance in the selection of portfolio manager and assistance in periodic review of financial performance. The successful bidder will provide monthly written reports to the Foundation Board and will meet with the Board in person on a quarterly basis.

Name of Company and Year Organized; Number and Characterization of Clients, specifically non-profits or philanthropic institutions; Qualification of Person or Persons to be involved in this project; Description of Experience in non-profit portfolio management; Discussion of Investment Philosophy; Performance of the Firm and How Measured; Assets Under Management or Advisement and Balance by Year for the Past Ten Years; Description of Customer Service Philosophy; Research Methods and Sources; Discussion of Investment Decision Making Process or Processes; and Indication of all fees involved.

The Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation is a private non-operating foundation created in 1961 by Jacob W. and Terese T. Hershey in Houston Texas. The Board of Directors, composed of family members and professional associates govern the Foundation which meets semi-annually on the first Friday in June and the first Friday in December to consider requests. The mission of the Foundation is to support preservation and conservation of land, forests, wetlands and habitat existing in a natural state, conservation and establishment of parks and open space, care facilities for domestic and wild animals and birds, environmental education in primary and secondary schools, and efforts toward human population control.
