To define and oversee a comprehensive grassroots program, as well as manage other member engagement activities.
Essential Duties of Position
Cultivates and maintains a constituency of grassroots liaisons at AdvaMed member companies
Manages the online grassroots portal, and handles all action alerts and communications to grassroots advocates
Develops and updates grassroots materials and resources, including writing and distributing regular communications to the grassroots constituency updating them on developments in Washington and the states, and providing information on key industry issues utilizing various digital communications platforms
Works with Public Affairs and its campaigns to recruit new and connect with current members. Ensures that a grassroots component is considered. Engages employees of member companies on a regular basis, including travel to speak to groups of company employees about the importance of engagement.
Maintains and updates information on company footprints in states and legislative districts, as well as key contact information on company relationships with policymakers
Works with Government Affairs department on regularized email updates to various Washington Representative working groups
Works with Public Affairs and Government Affairs to schedule an ongoing series of events with policy makers at company facilities and other locations in the states
Manages scheduling, materials, and communications for the AdvaMed Stateside program, involving in district Congressional meetings for member company employees
Assists in organizing CEO lobby days, Board fly-ins, and other coordinated special advocacy events
Travel Requirements:10 – 15%

Ability to engage company employees
Ability to translate complex and controversial policy issues into well-written material
Ability to speak eloquently and persuasively to large groups
Strong knowledge of and experience with editing and proofing
Proficient in the use of relevant Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator software
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
Proactive and motivated problem solving abilities
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Political Science or related degree preferred; Toastmasters and/or National Speakers Association certification a plus
Minimum Experience Required: 4 years experience in public affairs/public relations and/or government relations and issue advocacy; Prior grassroots communication or government relations and Hill experience a plus
