Non-profit trade association has an opening for a highly motivated and detailed oriented individual to serve as an associate director for the association’s standards programs. In order to ensure successful use, recognition, and progress for the industry the association serves, the leadership is seeking an innovative approach to standards implementation through association program development and promotion. The ability to effectively communicate the value of the standards program to the membership and industry at large will be a key performance measurement for this position.
The association administers two ANSI accredited standards committees and serves as secretary for five ISO working groups and one ANSI Accredited US Technical Advisory Group (USTAG). Administration of these groups requires:
familiarity and compliance with ANSI, ISO, and USTAG policy and procedures;
meeting scheduling, planning, announcements, confirmations, agenda preparation and dissemination, meeting minute preparation, and action item follow up;
development and execution of promotional campaigns through all available media and examination of alternative communication and education methods to promote the standards program;
providing general oversight of membership for committees;
ensuring the standards portion on the association’s website is accurate and up-to-date; and
requires international and domestic travel.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a standards maintenance or related technical environment. Experience administering a consensus standards committee under ANSI procedures will be considered advantageous. Candidate must possess good communication skills. Must have an advanced working knowledge of all applications within the Microsoft Office package and have the ability to learn new programs such as database and website management software. Candidate must be a team player with the ability to manage multiple events, be highly detail oriented, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide creative support to the Senior Director of Standards.
