The Manufacturers Alliance (MAPI) in Arlington, VA, seeks an experienced program leader to manage three of our Financial best practice sharing groups: the Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Investor Relations Councils. The Council Director is responsible for delivering an outstanding member experience to executives at some of the world’s leading manufacturers, including Harley-Davidson, Tupperware, Kohler, and Stanley Black & Decker. We are looking for an individual with a passion for educating and engaging manufacturing executives and professionals in this space to fill this critical role.
The ideal candidate is a leader and savvy professional comfortable taking the initiative to provide outstanding member services through content generation, event management and program development. Curious and a trend-spotter, s/he is able to spot r business issue emerging from a variety of sources – current events, member conversations, industry data, research and more. The Director will also work closely with a small 2-3 person team to engage with members via a variety of channels including online communities, in-person and phone meetings, and newsletters. Experience in a non-profit is ideal. Familiarity with the manufacturing industry is a plus.
MAPI Council Directors play a critical role in providing outstanding member service and in generating exceptional content for manufacturing executives. As a “CD” you have a unique opportunity to work closely with the industry’s best and brightest, helping to connect them with peers and with powerful ideas to solve their toughest business challenges. Melding your program management and content generation skills with a strong commitment to member service, you will execute on the following:
Delivering an Outstanding Member Experience
· Manage relationships with 200+ executives who belong to the Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Investor Relations Councils. Through phone and email outreach, educate members on how to get the most value out of MAPI.
Managing Effective Events
· Manage all aspects of 7 in-person council meetings/year, including agenda design, speaker recruitment and coordination, and facilitation.
Creating Relevant and Valuable Content
· Provide valuable insights to members through quick benchmark surveys, research, newsletters, and blogs.
Collaborating with Colleagues
· Work closely with other parts of the organization (including other Council Directors, Member Services, Sales, and Research) to help recruit, retain, and engage members.
The ideal candidate cares about delivering a great customer experience. He/she is a leader with presence, and is comfortable being a trusted partner to senior executives. While the ideal candidate need not have deep risk/audit expertise, he/she does need to have demonstrated ability to acquire new subject matter knowledge.
Requires at least 5-10 years related professional experience in a professional services, consulting, accounting, association or related organization. Familiarity with accounting/finance topics strongly preferred
Proven track record of providing outstanding experiences to senior-level clients (e.g. at a membership organization or management consultancy)
Track record as both a strategic thinker and doer.
Self-starter, able to work independently. Can plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects at the same time
Strong communications skills (including writing), with strong executive presence and gravitas
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse and cross-functional teams
Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
Telecommuting is allowed.
