The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has a fantastic opportunity for a Digital Content and Publishing Manager to join our growing Publishing Department to lead development and strategy for new and existing journal and publications web sites and mobile delivery platforms, and to participate in planning and execution of digital opportunities. What you will do:
Manage online projects and initiatives (for both internal projects/initiatives and those involving vendor collaboration/development); collaborate with the Technical department on planning and efficient execution of new digital initiatives
Serve as senior technical management contact, responsible for digital delivery of Publishing content to ensure successful, timely, efficient, accessible, and cost-effective completion of all routine online and mobile production processes and new initiatives
Oversee the projects, tasks, and professional progress of two direct reports while providing ongoing effective coaching and mentorship
Maintain expert knowledge of features and capabilities of Publishing’s CMS, and of HTML5/CSS3
Proactively evaluate and manage online Publishing vendors and relationships
Work with Division Director to develop and track department annual operating budget for digital services and production
Develop, analyze, and distribute relevant digital metrics to internal and external stakeholders
Stay current on digital content trends and developments both within and outside scholarly publishing and proactively recommend and apply relevant knowledge to department goals and initiatives
What you will need in order to be successful:
5+ years of publishing-related experience and having a focus on digital publishing is a plus
Experience successfully leading projects and initiatives while effectively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to effectively manage, mentor, and develop staff member
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with a strong focus on Excel
Proficiency working with HTML5/CSS3 and utilizing a variety of CMS; and an openness to adapting to new technology
Superior communication skills including oral, listening and written
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and to complete a high volume of work and meet deadlines with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Superb analytical skills and ability to think things through, anticipate solutions and next steps, and see the bigger picture, while offering fresh ideas
