The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Digital Communications Manager who will be responsible for the developing and implementing strategic, engaging social media and email communications that raise awareness for membership priorities, events and programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Leads, coordinates and develops social media strategy across five social media channels, ensuring channels are leveraged strategically.
Ensures email is reviewed and scheduled consistently and that communications are formatted according to best practices to promote readership and engagement.
Monitor and provide analytics to internal stakeholders illustrating performance of email and social media campaigns in order to advise strategies.
Coordinates with marketing and other internal stakeholders to execute established communication priorities related specifically to social media and email to display breadth of society's activities in support of SfN's priorities.
Examines web, social media, and email analytics to implement messaging tactics for engagement, education, and audience growth.
Manages analysis and consistent improvement of social media channel use and content effectiveness at delivering key information and priorities, facilitating community and enhancing participation and growth and engagement in each channel in alignment with organizational priorities.
Supervises one staff member, with a focus on coaching and performance management.
Delegates effectively, communicates expectations clearly, and provides professional development opportunities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Communications or other relevant fields.
A minimum of 3-5 years of related professional experience required.
A minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or team lead experience required.
Proven successful track-record in managing social media and email for a large organization.
Experience with platforms that manage high-volume email such as Hubspot; experience working with Sprout Social or other social media content scheduling tools; working knowledge of HTML and CMS experience (preferred); excellent writing and message development skills.
Ability to multitask and set priorities in a flexible manner.
Interpersonal and teamwork skills to seek input across the organization, working across departments.
Exceptional time and project management skills.
Strong organizational and editing skills with high attention to detail.
Familiarity with working for a member-led organization or society an asset.
