Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs, the Staff Attorney will support NAR’s legal team on a variety of legal issues. The ideal candidate will have passed the bar in Illinois or DC, and will need strong research, writing and presenting skills for this entry-level position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research, identify, analyze and keep current on laws, regulations and court decisions for how NAR and its’ affiliates will be impacted.
Provide legal analysis of issues and legal research for NAR and member groups that affect the real estate industry.
Assist NAR members (including committees), local and state REALTOR® associations and their legal counsel by providing legal information and analysis of issues.
Review, analyze, negotiate, and draft contracts and RFP's. Keep current on legal issues affecting trade association contracts.
Present legal education programs to NAR members, REALTOR association executives, association legal counsel and NAR staff (programs such as: Legal Seminar, NAR EXCEL program for association executives, NAR's Association Executives Institute and NAR Law Day program), including selection of topics, legal research and preparation of material to be presented.
Conceptualize, research, and write legal articles for NAR and its’ affiliate publications and occasionally for outside organizations' publications.

Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.)
1 – 3 years experience at a law firm or in-house position.
Trademark experience preferred
Must have current license to practice law in good standing
Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
Ability to think in innovative ways to find solutions to problem
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
