Denver-based Legal Association is seeking an Online Community Manager, with additional social media responsibilities. Your job is to connect with the legal community online using our web site, social media channels and new private online community. This is a position for a relationship builder—someone who can build an online community and drive CBA’s social narrative to make connections that are valuable to the legal community, as well as extend the use of other social networking tools to deliver content and market the association. The ideal candidate possesses a unique ability to thoroughly understand the needs of the legal community and other primary stakeholders and then creatively develop online resources and communications to meet those needs. S/he will drive positive communications through various social media channels and become the online “voice” of the association.
Lead the development and launch of CBA’s private online community.
Develop custom content, marketing and audience engagement plans for online communities.
Define CBA’s message and voice online. Ensure cross promotion and consistent messaging across web, community and social.
Idea Generation: Creative and strategic thinking to successfully develop social media plans that fit within overall member service and marketing objectives.
Work with colleagues in program management departments to develop tactical plans to build and support community among their constituents.
Engage with the online community by programming posts that will drive conversation, connect members with shared interests, identify and recognize top contributors and champions.
Collaborate with staff to ensure their participation in activities that will lead to the community’s success.
Recommend and implement engagement tactics, including incorporating community into organization programming, communications strategy, annual conferences and events.
Create and post relevant social media on platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn and integrate them with Community Platform
Monitor discussions, responding in a timely fashion. Note that the job involves working some evenings and weekends, responding to community members when necessary.
Grow the size and impact of our online community.
Maintain list of members and/or staff who can be reached quickly to respond to specific questions.
Identify and report on community trends to internal teams and advise on potential opportunities or risks.
Industry-specific News: Incorporating blog and tweet generation into the community to drive conversations.
Research: Tapping secondary research sources and performing web-based research to develop intelligence on target audiences, industry benchmarks, and competitive landscapes to derive insights that drive strategy.
Measurement & Reporting: Analyzing KPIs to measure the effectiveness of social media strategies and campaigns. Recommending appropriate site analytics, optimization tactics, and response plans.
Develop and maintain community training resources, guidelines and policies.
Train colleagues on how to participate and engage in the community.
Train and empower community champions to participate on a more significant engagement level.
Promote new community features or procedures to members and staff.
Promote community activities internally.
Experience developing and growing large-scale online communities (forums, discussion groups, social networks). (Experience with Higher Logic preferred.)
Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Experience in using online tools (Google Analytics, Social Media Trackers, etc.)
Excellent customer service and troubleshooting abilities, with a highly professional demeanor with all CBA stakeholders.
Strong writing skills for a variety of channels and platforms.
Desire to Learn: A drive to understand the legal community and their needs.
HTML, content management, apps, and other web-based technology skills.
Self-starter with a strong understanding of community management best practices.
Ability to remain flexible and prioritize while juggling multiple projects in a tight, deadline-oriented environment.
Technology Leadership: Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of trends and emerging technologies in the social media space. Experimenting with and recommending alternate ways to leverage social media to the advantage of members.
High personal and professional integrity.
Strong degree of creativity and initiative (“can-do” attitude).
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with particular attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
