ASHI Education, Inc. (AEI), d/b/a The ASHI School, is a wholly-owned for profit subsidiary of The American Society of Home Inspectors, Inc. (ASHI). ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of AEI will be a highly motivated professional with experience in leadership, operational management, maintaining quality education, and delivering successful student outcomes. This role is responsible for driving revenue for this for-profit school, and reports to The AEI Board of Directors through the President.
This position is based full-time at AEI headquarters in Des Plaines, IL. Most work will be performed 8 am – 5 pm CDT (occasional evenings and Saturday to attend Board meetings and conferences.). Domestic travel (two weeks a year planned) is required for this role.
Develop and execute the strategic business plan for the organization, with Board input and approval
Manage the evaluation, acquisition, development, and delivery of education courses and materials that profitably deliver education that satisfy the mission of AEI
Identify, assess, and notify the Board of issues that impact the organization
Create an environment that promotes teamwork among AEI staff and instructors, and with the Board
Work effectively, efficiently, and harmoniously with ASHI leadership and staff
Act as a spokesperson for the organization, in conjunction with the President, in both spoken and written communication
Develop and implement sales and marketing plans
Establish, monitor, and achieve sales goals
Establish and manage the delivery of courses at various locations and online
Determine and comply with government regulations involving home inspector licensing and education, including maintaining required approvals
Work with the Board to establish develop an annual budget
Establish systems and procedures to collect, evaluate, and report financial and operational information to the Board
Assist the President in the preparation of Board meeting agendas, and prepare supporting documentation for presentation at Board meetings
Manage the efficient and effective daily operation of the organization
Recommend additions and changes to organization policies and procedures on at least an annual basis
Evaluate office staffing requirements and provide recommendations to the Board regarding salaries, bonuses, additions, terminations, and significant changes to staff duties
Develop and maintain the Personnel Handbook, in conjunction with the Board
Recruit, orient, train, supervise, and motivate office staff and instructors
Develop and maintain job descriptions for all staff and instructors and developing and evaluate staff and instructors
Establish a positive work environment that complies with applicable laws and regulations
ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
College degree, or experience in post-secondary education
Experience in staff management and motivation
At least 5 years of experience in managing an adult education organization is highly desirable
Knowledge of human resource management is highly desirable
Knowledge of building inspection or construction is highly desirable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Spanish highly desirable
