AACC, a DC-based dynamic, growing international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists focused on clinical chemistry and related disciplines, is seeking a seasoned, strategic CFO to lead the finance and human resources operations for this $22 million association. The CFO is accountable for the financial, risk management and human resources operations of AACC, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve association assets and report accurate financial results. The individual serving in this position maintains the association’s relationship with banks and the financial community, and serves as the primary staff liaison to the Finance Committee, and supports the financial decision-making of the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree (M. A., M.B.A) or equivalent; or four to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience as a senior level finance professional in a membership organization, preferably in a scientific or health-related association, is required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members and other stakeholders who may not necessarily be familiar with principles of accounting and finance. Negotiate contracts for acquisitions and review all Association contracts in consultation with AACC’s legal counsel when necessary prior to finalization. CPA and/or CMA preferred.
